Granada is one of Spain’s most enchanting cities, and finding the right hotel for your stay can make all the difference. We stayed at Sercotel Palacio de los Gamboa in December for three nights, and here’s our full review of the experience.
If you’d prefer a video review, check out our YouTube video where we walk you through the hotel and our stay.
Location
The hotel is located on Calle Escudo del Carmen, a fantastic spot in the heart of Granada. Many of the city’s main attractions are within walking distance:
- 5 minutes from Granada Cathedral
- 10-15 minutes from Albaicín, the city’s historic Moorish quarter
If you’re planning to visit the Alhambra, you will need to take a taxi or public transport, but this is true for most centrally located hotels in Granada.

Hotel & Check-In
Sercotel Palacio de los Gamboa beautifully blends old-world charm with modern conveniences. The reception area is a highlight, featuring elegant seating, wood-paneled balconies, and a stunning stained-glass roof that adds to the hotel’s historic character.
- 24-hour reception with helpful, friendly staff
- Check-in from 2 PM, check-out by 12 PM
- If you arrive early or need to leave later, you can store your luggage at reception

Rooms
We stayed in two superior rooms, which were spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped. Each room accommodates two people and is available with either a double bed or twin beds.
Room Features:
- Inner hallway, bedroom, and bathroom
- Wall-mounted flat-screen TV
- Minibar (drinks available at extra cost)
- Desk and armchair
- Safety deposit box (fits a small laptop)
- Bathroom with a bath/shower combo, spacious and clean
Overall, the rooms were well-maintained, comfortable, and provided everything needed for a relaxing weekend in Granada.

Breakfast
Breakfast is served in the La Bizcocha restaurant next door. The buffet is medium-sized but offers a great variety of hot and cold items, including:
- Bread for toasting
- Fresh fruit and cereals
- A selection of cakes and pastries
- Coffee from a machine (which was surprisingly good!)
Breakfast Pricing & Hours:
- €12 per adult, €6 per child
- Monday to Friday: 7 AM – 10 AM
- Weekends: 8 AM – 10 AM

- Friendly, welcoming staff
- Clean, comfortable rooms with all essential facilities
- Great breakfast selection to start the day right
- Perfect central location for exploring Granada
